I just noticed that Blogger does not permit “categories,” but its list of labels seems to do the same thing.

It looks like it is possible to set up categories in Blogger, with a little hacking. Somebody has posted a solution at: http://blogfresh.blogspot.com/2007/04/blog-update-feed-and-sidebar-display.html
You can see it at work at http://the-speccy.blogspot.com/ If you click on one of the categories under “Watch List,” the posts under “Rap Sheets” change. I know that’s not the way we envisioned it but maybe we could modify his hack (or envision it differently…)
Looks like we can just change the word “Labels” to “Categories” and that will do the trick. But, we will have to tag (label) each post to make it show up. Is that different from how it works in other platforms?

This seems to work, but as you say, not quite as we envisioned.

Is this more what you’re after?
Or try Singpolyma’s FreshTags Blogger integration.
